After years of working at the venue when it was still a discotheque, Ricardo Reeberg and Bert Hendriks joined forces on September 21st, 1990, to create what has since become one of the most iconic music venues in Amsterdam. They sought a change, envisioning a space pulsating with the soulful vibe of New Orleans.

Tucked just off Leidseplein, Bourbon Street has been one of the city’s most beloved live-music hideouts since 1990. What started as a small, late-night musicians’ bar has grown into a legendary stage where world-class artists, touring bands, and local heroes come together for unforgettable nights of blues, funk, soul, and everything in between.

At Bourbon Street, the music never hides behind velvet ropes or big stages. It’s close, loud, and alive, played only a few steps from your drink. Countless musicians have jumped in for spontaneous jams, surprise sets, and after-show sessions that became stories told for years.
