GREGORIO RANGEL (GREGOSAURIUS REX)

Gregorio Rangel rose to prominence as the bass player (and backing vocalist) of the influential Venezuelan‑Dutch crossover metal/Latin band Laberinto. Originally from Venezuela, he joined the band after their relocation to Amsterdam, stepping in on bass in the early 1990s and becoming a core part of the group as they developed their distinctive “Metalatino” fusion sound.

With Laberinto, Gregorio contributed to a significant discography — including landmark albums such as Priority (1996), Freakeao (1998), Another Style (2000), Década (2003), and Mask of a Thousand Faces (2010). Through those recordings and countless live shows across Europe and beyond, he helped shape a bold fusion of heavy metal’s intensity with Latin‑American rhythms — a sound that many consider pioneering for Latin‑metal fusion.

Today, Gregorio continues to bring his versatile bass skills to Amsterdam’s live‑music scene. He plays every Monday at Bourbon Street’s open jam  and also performs regularly with the Caracas Latin Band and Jay’s Garage.
