DANIEL VON PIEKARTZ

Daniël von Piekartz grew up in the Netherlands (from Oldenzaal) and early on showed a remarkable gift for jazz and soul. Over the years, he has established himself as one of the most promising and versatile young voices on the Dutch scene — alternating between smooth jazz‑crooning, soulful vocals, and expressive piano playing.

His breakthrough came through collaboration with Benjamin Herman: on the 2014 album Trouble, von Piekartz contributed vocals and piano to eight out of ten tracks — far more than initially planned. The collaboration surprised many, because Benjamin Herman originally intended him only for two songs, but was so impressed by von Piekartz’s musicianship and creative ideas that the project expanded.

Since then, Daniel has performed at major venues and festivals, including at the North Sea Jazz Festival and concerts with prominent Dutch jazz ensembles.
